Ozerim are expected to arrive promptly: by 9:00 AM on Sundays and Saturdays, 4pm on Tuesdays. When you arrive, please go directly to your classroom (or office) to meet with your teacher/supervisor and assist with classroom set up. Ozerim are expected to stay until the last student in their class has been picked up and the classroom has been cleaned up for the day.
*
All ozerim working with 3rd-7th grade will help run games for students during recess time. We will create a rotation for this responsibility and stock various supplies that might be useful (balls, jump ropes, etc).
*
All classroom ozerim will be responsible for posting the classroom agreements at the beginning of class, taking them down and storing them at the end of class, and picking up and returning snack for their classroom.
*
Paid ozerim are required to be enrolled in regular Jewish learning, such as teen learning at CBS. Ozerim can choose to volunteer if they cannot meet this requirement.
*
Ozerim should attend as many of the sessions as they can. If necessary, substitutes can be found, especially to encourage support in USY programming. Please only miss school if absolutely necessary. If you cannot attend at least 80% of the sessions, please reconsider whether this program is the right fit for you. Exceptions will be made for students who are studying in Israel for part of the school year.
*
Absences: Notify your teacher and Rachel Wachtel of all absences at least 2 weeks in advance (excluding absences due to illness/emergency).
*
Ozerim will be reliable and dependable, serve as a role model to our students, and have a positive attitude. Ozerim should dress appropriately and act professionally at all times. **This includes keeping their cell phone silenced and away during the hours they work at CBS. Ozerim who struggle to keep their phone away during work hours will be asked to leave their phone in the RS office.
*
Ozerim must attend a mandatory training session at the beginning of the school year or arrange for substitute training. Ozerim will attend monthly staff meetings on Sundays from 12:00pm-1:00pm. A schedule with these dates and all school dates will be provided at the start of year. Attendance at these meetings is a mandatory part of the program. These sessions will focus on logistics for programming, brainstorming solutions to classroom challenges, classroom management techniques, leadership, and more. Ozerim are invited to attend all Religious School staff meetings as well.
*
CBS is happy to pay ozerim who are in 9th-12th grade and are continuing their own Jewish learning at CBS or another approved program. 8th graders and those not participating in Jewish learning as well as those looking for community service hours are welcome to volunteer. Let us know if you plan to volunteer for community service credit or get paid.
If you are choosing to be paid, please let us know what Jewish learning you will participate in this year.
